Foundation Courses

The aims of these courses are to introduce Tai Chi and to encourage personal health and wellbeing. Through the beauty of movement and energy and by following the original principles of the movements, we are able to obtain maximum health benefits of Tai Chi training.

These 12-week courses are held throughout the year. They are designed to introduce members to the simplified Yang form of Cheng Man Ching, also known as the 'Short Form'. The emphasis is on relaxing the body with an easy series of movements of Chi Kung and form practice.

The classes start off with stretching Chi Kung with coordinated deep breathing. This breathing causes the diaphragm to contract and relax and with the natural intake of air, the movement of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles physically massages the major organs of the abdomen and chest cavity of the body.

What happens after a 12-weeks course?

Members are encouraged to continue their learning in Tai Chi and have the opportunity to progress to our intermediates syllabus.
